This was an awesome day to visit Santa because we spent about 10 minutes with him, no line behind us. Santa asked Emily if she made her list and what she had on it and she replied that she couldn't remember. Santa's special request was for chocolate chip cookies this year and he was so great because he looked Amy in the eyes and said "I have been waiting all day for you!!!" He was great! Of course we went to the food court to McDonald's and on our way out stopped for our traditional after Santa visit cookie from the Great American Cookie Company!

We will have to see!

Well, the other night I had gotten dinner ready and on the table. We all prayed and David and the girls began to eat as I was up and down, eating in between pulling the cookies out of the oven and placing them on a cooling rack.

After David and the girls got done eating, David took Amy to wash her hands. Emily was still at the table and looked over at me as I began to wash my hands at the kitchen sink and she said "Mommy, you haven't finished the food on your plate are you going to finish eating?" I looked at her and said "well sometimes Mommy's have to do things in between eating and as soon as I get a chance to finish I will." And then I said "When you become a Mommy you will see." Emily then replied, "I am not going to be up and down, I am going to eat while it is hot."

Emily Lost It Today,

her first tooth that is! It has been an exciting day as it started with spending the afternoon with her cousins Annie and Alexis when this historical event happened.

David had just returned home from picking up pizza and it was the first bite that would forever change her life. She felt something hard and spit it out only to see that the fear she has had for the last few days didn't exactly play out like she had pictured in her mind. She was so scared that she was going to swallow her tooth, which I can remember as a child thinking the same thing. As you can see she overcame her fear of swallowing her tooth today! She is so excited and is feeling so grown up!

Well, Amy

had her first day of pre-k3 yesterday and loves it already! I stayed awhile and then went to go to meet Emily for mass.

I am so proud of my girls and they are growing up so fast. Emily is now beginning to have homework that needs to be turned in on Tuesdays and Thursdays which I know will not be a problem because she loves to do homework.

The girls started Kiz Choir and Awana's yesterday and loved it. Emily started Sparks and Amy started Cubbies. They are both excited and have begun memorizing scriptures. We are use to doing Awana's on Sundays but wanted the weekends for us to spend as a family so we decided to take them on Wednesday's. Wednesday's are very busy for us but it makes me proud to see the girls learning more and more about God, faith and love!

A few more Changes

Well, the girls have been sick, Amy more than Emily. We took them Saturday morning to the doctor to find that Amy has an ear infection (which we didn't realize), cough, low grade fever and cold symptoms. Emily just has a little cold that she has been fighting for over a week so they are both on antibiotics and doing much, much better.

Emily is loving school and has been learning so much. She has come home with smiley faces on her folder for the past two weeks which then allows her to pick treasures from the teaches treasure box and I must say she is all about prizes.

Amy will be starting her pre-k3 program on Wednesday and she is so excited to go to sisters old school. We have orientation tomorrow morning so Amy will get to meet the new students in her class.

As for me I am so excited because I will have a few hours to myself during the weeks to come. I will be working out, resting, having breakfast with friends & family, shopping, etc. I am excited about the new journey I am entering but a little melancholy as I am realizing that my girls are growing up.

Timing

Well, Thursday was the first day Emily wore her brand new white shoes to school. We tend to have issues with socks and shoes as Emily seems to have sensitive feet.

Well an issue arose with the new white shoes because she was complaining about the straps bothering her. Well she had no choice she HAD to wear them as HS has strict rules.

So we got in the car and we pray every morning but this time Emily asked me to pray about her shoes, that they wouldn't bother her. So I prayed that God would allow her feet to fit perfectly into the new shoes and that she wouldn't even realize that they were on. Well, when we got done praying Emily looks and me and says "Mom, God hasn't healed my shoes yet." And I replied "Give God some time, be patient." This brought to mind how sometimes I am in such a rush for God to heal me or take care of situations immediately especially when I am uncomfortable.

When I picked up Emily from school as I was buckling her in I asked how her shoes fit, and she said "Mom, God healed my shoes." It is awesome to know that we serve a God that always comes in at the perfect time, His time not mine!

Emily's 1st day in Kinder

Well, the first day of Kinder

didn't go as expected at least by my expectations. We have all been so excited about Emily starting school. This morning we woke up to a new schedule but everything went smooth.

Emily woke up excited to put on her uniform but once we got to school she had a sad look on her face, I think Dad being there had a lot to do with it as he is only able to attend the BIG events in her life, this being one.

She was a little shy as we introduced her to some of her school mates. Once the announcements ended they were asking the parents to kindly leave so class can get started and as David, Amy and I were trying to walk out the door a cute little girl tells Emily "remember me, we were in the same class for VBS." Emily broke out with a smile, then almost as quick as the smile came the sad face followed.

The Vice Principle was visiting the room and came to assist as David broke Emily's "don't leave me" hold from him (so sad to see). Then the big hit, Emily got in her chair put her head on the table and shed a few tears as we had to leave. I totally didn't expect that. I know she will come home later and talk about her new friends, the fun she has had and how she likes school but from this morning you probably wouldn't think so.

I am excited as this is a new beginning for me in my life! It will just be Amy and I for a few weeks until she starts Pre-K 3 school in the mornings. I don't know exactly all that I will do for myself but am excited to be on the journey that I am on now!

Slick, Quick Thinking

Today we were at Costco buying all kinds of goodies for Emily who starts school on Monday. Well, Emily picked out a few items as well as Amy. As we were finishing up our shopping experience for today I told the girls I felt like they picked out too many snacks and that we should put some back. After some serious thought Amy looks and me and says "Mom, just put the paper towels back and it will be OK."

Not Quite

Today we pulled out our wedding video. This is the first time the girls have ever seen it. I told them we were going to see a story of a princess who found her prince. To their surprise it stared Daddy and Mommy. They loved watching it. Amy kept asking were she was and I told her she was still with God that it wasn't her time to be born yet because you have to find the right David, marry and then God gives you babies. Then Emily looks at me and says "Do we get to see the video of God putting us in your tummy too?"

My Little Sick Girls :(

Well, it has been a long few days. Emily and Amy are sick again with croupy stuff so the last 2 nights have been extremely tiring for me with the breathing treatments and all.

But Emily has been a trooper and has worked on some workbook pages and has been playing Webkinz on the computer. She is actually mastering checkers and winning Kinzcash as she does. She hasn't lost a game yet and I talked her into playing the medium level the other day. Her Pink Pony and Bunny are very spoiled, LOL! She has also started her garden and is excited to see how much it grows everyday.

Amy watches, and Emily will let her play a few things but last night I let Amy pick a Webkinz and ordered it so we should get it in a few days. And yes, she picked out a pink poodle (this is her favorite puppy). She is such a good sport.

So that is what has been going on in the Osborn house!

No second picks

The other day we had just finished eating Chinese food and there were 4 fortune cookies on the table. I asked Emily to pick one and then went down the line to let everyone have their choice. Emily loves to get fortune cookies because she loves for me to read what they say. Most times I will make up something because some don't make since to a 5 year old. This was one of those times. Emily opened her fortune with such excitement and handed me the fortune to read. I turned to her and read "Obey your mom." With out even a blink of her eye she turned to me and said "Oh man, I picked the wrong one this was Amy's."

Things we hear are not as they seem

Emily and Amy were playing in their room this afternoon. Emily was dressed as Princess Aurora and Amy as Cinderella. As I passed by their room I hear Amy saying "Emily is a hooker"? I thought to myself, what??? Where did she hear that word. To my surprise and relief Amy was holding a red hanger and was trying to hook it on Emily's dress as she was saying and giggling "look sister is a hooker." Sometimes the things we hear are not as they seem and I am glad that this was one of them, LOL!!

Emily and the ENT appointment

Well, yesterday I took Emily to her ENT appointment. She was a little apprehensive because she thought her tonsils were coming out. But she was the perfect patient.

Dr. Bonilla said that her tonsils and adenoids are large but not abnormally large so he wants us to do a sleep study on her first. So I am waiting for Christus Hospital to call so we can set it up, hopefully for next week.

Summer ~ So Far So Good!

Well Hello and Welcome to our Blog!

This summer has been such a wonderful blessing and experience. Last summer I didn't really get to do much with my girls because of my commitment to MOPS and plus they were sick most of last summer. I am so excited to be spending quality time with my girls and husband it truly has been a blast!

Let me start out by saying that David was out of town the first week of July in Dallas to attend some workshops. The girls were at Crown of Life's VBS in the mornings that week which was nice because that gave us some space and it broke up our day. Believe it or not we had some very unusually early nights, LOL! Most nights the girls are in bed anywhere between 8:30 and 9:30, if we are lucky. Well that week I had the girls in bed as early as 7:20 and asleep before I could walk out the bedroom door. When David got back he asked me why the girls are not in bed and asleep by 7:20 more often, LOL! The girls and I had a wonderful week together, we had movie night, played and spent girl time together.

The girls are getting more and more into playing with Barbies. So to my surprise I walked in on them playing one day to notice Emily with two of her Barbies kissing and she had named one of them David. That afternoon I took the girls to Toys R Us to go and buy 2 Ken dolls and some Barbie clothes. They were so excited about their Ken dolls. Later that day they both had their Dentist appointments so as we were walking out the door to the car Emily stops and looks at me and says while holding the Barbie and Ken doll together "mom, Barbie is going to have a baby because she found the right David." Wow, I thought to myself that is a compliment but also a scary thought at the same time. I am glad that she is seeing the wonderful qualities in her Daddy and know that this will help her in her future to make the right choice in a mate. But lets not talk about that now because before I know it that day will be here.
I have to say how proud I am of Amy at her Dentist appointment. I wasn't sure if she was going to let them clean her teeth or if she was even going to open her mouth just to show Dr. Bob how many teeth she has but to my surprise she did and I think I know why. Emily went first and when they put her in the chair Amy didn't want anything to do with it because the chair scares her because it can move back into a reclining position. But, and I say but, when they pulled out THE Dora sunglasses, well that changed everything. Emily had the sunglasses on and they reclined her back and she got her teeth cleaned but once the chair was coming up in to the seated position Amy couldn't push her sister off the chair quick enough. Amy got right up onto the chair and sat patiently as the hygienist handed her THE Dora sunglasses. Amy put them on upside down of course, this is how she wears her sunglasses I think because there is more of the shaded part to look out of. But to no avail she was the perfect patient and came out of the Dentist office with a sparkling smile!

I volunteered this past week at Holy Spirit's VBS. Since Emily will be attending Kindergarten there I wanted to get to know some of the staff and students. I felt this would be a great opportunity and it was. I was in charge of snacks and had 10 helpers that were middle and high school kids. This was the best group of kids I could have ever asked for. When I woke up Emily this past Monday to get dressed she was wanting to wear her school uniform, LOL! She is so excited and so ready for Kindergarten. To answer the question in your head, no I didn't let her wear her uniform to VBS. I do have to say that I am exited too about Emily attending Kindergarten but also sad at the same time knowing that she is growing up and it is happening all too fast.
